True story of working with a Sleep Consultant
A couple with a five-month-old baby was facing significant challenges due to sleep regression, leaving them exhausted and in need of immediate assistance.

The consultant assessed their current sleep routine and identified key areas for improvement while laying out an exact plan to follow day and night.
She recommended establishing a consistent daytime nap schedule, which includes a calming pre-sleep routine such as a sound machine and changing the environment of the sleeping area..and being consistent! This helps signal to the baby that it is time to wind down for a nap.
Of utmost importance is creating a conducive sleep environment by ensuring the nursery is dark, quiet, and at a comfortable temperature.
The sleep consultant emphasizes the importance of putting the baby down to sleep while drowsy but still awake, allowing the child to learn self-soothing techniques. She of course goes more in depth when you wolf with her privately but this is the general advice.
The couple implemented these strategies, along with the support of a postpartum doula, and within the first night, they notice a remarkable improvement in their baby’s ability to fall asleep independently and stay asleep for longer stretches.
The consultant also introduced the concept of sleep associations, explaining how certain cues can help the baby understand when it is time to sleep. She suggested using a specific blanket or a white noise machine to create a consistent sleep environment.
The couple followed this advice, and as the weeks progressed their baby successfully associated these cues with sleep, leading to longer stretches of uninterrupted rest. What a success!!
After a week of following the consultant’s recommendations, the couple experienced an entirely different relationship with each other and parenthood in general. They felt rested, finally ,and grateful for the expert guidance that transformed their nightly struggles into rhythmic routine which resulted in a rested baby and parents .
